The Rundown: Oliver discovers a dark truth as his mother braves the cartoon world to find him.

After embracing her cartoon side, Oliver’s mother takes the leap to get her and Pecos Pete to a place where they can enter the cartoon universe while Oliver himself is stuck in a cell with Dewy. When his new friend escapes, Oliver finds a way to follow and finds himself in the throne room where the First and one of his minions discuss what they are going to do with the boy.
After learning the dark plans the First has for Oliver, he attempts to escape but is recaptured as his mother and grandfather make their way to the castle. With time running out, the pair must find a way to rescue Oliver before the First uses him as a sacrifice for his dark plans.
The Story: Fleecs ramps up the tension and suspense throughout this issue. The story takes some huge dramatic swings as it brings the characters and story racing towards a confrontation with the First. I really love both Oliver’s growth in this issue as well as the tension between Pete and his daughter. There are some great moments of tension and everything leads to an awesome cliffhanger that promises something big and compelling to come in the next issue.
The Art: Wachter delivers some fantastic art throughout the issue. I love the visual style of this issue as well as the contrast between the characters from the real world and the cartoon world.
